CHARLIE MANBY has returned to his day job as a bricklayer — just days after banking a life-changing £60,000 prize.
The 20-year-old had a World Darts Championship to remember and it ended with him pocketing £60,000 from his run to the fourth round.
He eventually lost out at Ally Pally to beaten finalist Gian van Veen – who is now ranked No3 in the world behind Luke Littler and Luke Humphries after his own incredible run at Alexandra Palace.
But despite his new-found fame, ‘Champagne Charlie’ has remained humble and gone straight back to the building site.
The young Englishman, who himself is now 81st in the PDC World Rankings, has opened up on that experience on the big stage.
And life on the building site as a freelance bricklayer – a job he “enjoys” and role he has “always got to fall back on.”
He told ITV News: “It was a bit surreal to start with, then game by game I felt a lot more comfortable.
“I was very nervous at the start but I got used to it.
“It was a great feeling and the crowd were always on my side which is always a good thing.
“There was 4,000 people shouting my name. It’s a great feeling.

“For the past three years I have been doing this job it has been my main income and I actually enjoy it.
“It’s a good laugh on the site and you are getting a good weeks wage at the end of it as well.
“You’ve always got something to fall back on if the darts doesn’t go your way.”
With £60k set to hit his bank, the big question of if he has had a think over what he plans to spend his winnings on was put to Manby.
He added: “Not quite. Maybe when it hits the bank I will have a think.
“I need a new car, so probably look at one of them and maybe a watch.”
Sam Booth, Charlie’s boss on site, added: “He’s just a character. He’s that guy who brings a smile to everybody’s face.
“When things might be getting a bit tough, he will be there making everybody laugh. That is what he is like. Just a good all-round guy.”
And when asked if Manby is better at darts or laying bricks, Booth joked: “Good question. I’d say throwing darts. He’s still got some work to do.”
Manby now heads to Q-School as he aims to earn a two-year spot on the professional tour.
