Budgens, on Worthing Road in Southwater, near Horsham, shared the news on social media after one of their customers purchased a winning ticket in the store.
It said: “We’re thrilled to share that one of our Budgens Southwater customers has won £1 million on a National Lottery ticket purchased right here in-store!
“A huge congratulations to the lucky winner — what an incredible moment for our community!
“Thank you to all our customers for your continued support.”
Many people took to the comments to congratulate the Sussex resident on their win.
The lucky resident joins a number of other Sussex people who became lottery winners this year.
In February, a man known only as Mr. F from West Sussex won one million pounds on The National Lottery after matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the Lotto draw.
The man revealed his first purchase was a new car, and said “he plans to enjoy life a little bit more” while taking some exotic holidays.
In October, neighbours at the TN40 1LY postcode in the seaside town of Bexhill scooped the People’s Postcode Lottery’s weekly Millionaire Street prize.
Five houses in the winning postcode bagged £200,000 per ticket.
