Tile grout will be sparkling clean and mould-free with an easy 10-second task

A bathroom expert has shared a simple cleaning trick that prevents tile mould and grout stains without harsh chemicals or scrubbing

Tile surfaces are generally a breeze to clean, but the grout that holds them together can be a magnet for dirt, quickly turning into mould if not properly cared for. Grout, being highly porous and filled with tiny holes, not only secures tiles but also absorbs soap, oils, and other greasy residues, reports the Express.

These stains get trapped within the grout, forming a dark brown layer that makes it appear even filthier. Over time, it can become a hotbed for mould spores and bacteria.

However, John Klee, an expert from the Big Bathroom Shop, has revealed a straightforward method to keep tiles as clean as possible, taking less than ten seconds. John advised: “The best way to keep grout looking in top condition is to spray down the shower with a 1:1 vinegar and water mix before stepping out of the shower.”

While you could purchase a chemical cleaner for your tiles, all you really need for a deep clean is something acidic.

White vinegar, containing antibacterial acetic acid, can dissolve soap and break down any greasy layers on the tiles. Regular use of vinegar will also kill mould and prevent its return, as the spores cannot thrive in an acidic environment.

Keeping white vinegar in your bathroom might seem odd, but it makes tackling tile stains and mildew a cinch, ensuring your tiles remain as pristine as possible.

Here’s a straightforward method to keep mould at bay and eliminate soapy residue, ensuring your bathroom tiles remain sparkling clean without the need for vigorous scrubbing or harsh chemical products.

How to deep clean tile grout in 10 seconds

All you need is to decant some vinegar into a spray bottle. You can find white vinegar in the condiment aisle of most supermarkets, while empty spray bottles are typically available in the gardening section.

Label your spray bottle as ‘shower spray’ and store it within easy reach on your shower shelf. Then, simply spritz the grout lines between your tiles twice a week or just before you step out of the shower.

If you spot any black or brown stains, you can also use a soft-bristled brush or even a toothbrush to gently scrub the grout lines in a circular motion.

Any residue should easily crumble away. Wipe the area dry with a cloth and your tiles should maintain their pristine whiteness with minimal effort.
