Homeowners are instead gravitating towards shades that feel cosy

After years of cool greys and stark whites dominating kitchen interiors, 2026 is set to see a softer, more nurturing palette take over our Pinterest boards. Kitchen experts.

The Kitchen Restoration Company predicts that homeowners will be drawn to shades inspired by nature.

According to the experts, kitchens in 2026 will be restorative and comforting as people seek calm, grounding spaces at the heart of the home. Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Cloud Dancer – a soft, gentle white, perfectly captures the mood.

After years of cool grey minimalism, homeowners are craving warmth, comfort and tactility. 2026 kitchens are all about soft whites, grounding browns and nature-led greens that make the room feel like a calm retreat. It’s the return of colour – but in a gentle way.

Cool blue-greys, once the go-to for modern kitchens, are officially on the way out. In their place, homeowners are gravitating towards shades that feel cosy, cocooning and connected to the outdoors.

The Kitchen Restoration Company has identified five key colour stories that will define 2026:

The New Neutrals will not be white and grey but warmer shades like cashmere, almond and‌ straw-coloured beiges bringing in soft warmth without overpowering a space.

Earthy greens like sage, and pine will also be popular, introducing an organic calm rooted in biophilic design.

Warm and deep brown are also set to have a moment in 2026 with shades like mocha, truffle and toffee offering depth, richness and a grounded, coffee-inspired aesthetic.

Although true bright whites will make an exit, softer whites will replace brilliant gloss finishes for a more soothing, natural brightness.

For anyone looking for a pop of colour – fear not, there is a quiet way to brighten up your home without gouging for any bold brights. Dusty blues, rose whites and muted beige pinks add a gentle lift that pairs beautifully with oak and stone.

In terms of wood finishes , textured wood grains such as oak continue to rise in popularity, especially when layered with warmer neutrals for a “quiet luxury” look.

These palettes collectively signal a broader shift: the kitchen is no longer just a functional space – it’s the emotional centre of the home.

The Kitchen Restoration Company is one of the UK’s leading experts in the kitchen refurbishment industry, offering a high-quality, cost-effective alternative to a complete kitchen re-fit. For over 21 years, the company has specialised in lovingly transforming existing kitchens by replacing doors, drawer fonts, worktops and accessories, building an unrivalled reputation for exceptional service, quality, and value for money.
