A top British comedian is set to leave leafy Sussex to set up home in a Highland castle.

The Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr gained a taste of life among the turrets in the north of Scotland while filming the hit TV show last year.

In a nail-biting final, the 49-year-old won the first celebrity series after convincing fellow finalists Nick Mohammed and David Olusoga that he was a faithful.

Now, the Chatty Man and Celebrity Ding Dong funnyman is filming a new series on Disney+, entitled Castle Man, that will document his search for a dream castle to live in.

The millionaire lives in a £2.7million house near Horsham, which he shared with former husband Paul Drayton before the couple divorced in 2022.

Carr has now told the Daily Mirror newspaper that he fancies a change, inspired by his appearance on the BBC One game show filmed at Ardross Castle, north-west of Alness.

Describing the Celebrity Traitors show as “the best thing he had ever done”, Carr said he had always dreamt of owning a castle.

He added: “I’m selling up and going up there (to the Highlands). For real. My money, my decision.

“I’m still in the house where my ex was. We’re divorced now, and it’s been four years.”

Carr won £87,500 on the show for the charity Neuroblastoma UK.

Among Carr’s fellow residents in 50,000-populated Horsham were TV presenter Holly Willoughby and comedian Harry Enfield, who was born in the town.
