In her viral video, Mallory films herself looping the ribbon over her cupboard doors before tying it into giant decorative bows.

Within seconds, the kitchen is unrecognisable, every cabinet suddenly looks like a perfectly wrapped Christmas gift, complete with neat festive trimmings.

The simple idea struck a chord with viewers worldwide, with the clip soaring past 14.3 million views as stunned fans scrambled to try it for themselves.

Comments flooded in as people rushed to praise the low-cost hack.

    FESTIVE MESSAGE

The jumpers & parties are fun but Christmas is nothing without Christ

    DISHING UP

I’m a mum-of-2 but refuse to cook on Christmas Day – we now graze on picky bits

“This looks so beautiful,” wrote one fan.

    Another said: “Did mine yesterday.”

Others labelled it “Genius”, “I love this”, and “Such a simple thing but it brings so much joy.”

Many viewers admitted they were desperate for festive inspiration that wouldn’t leave glitter or fake snow scattered all over the house, and Mallory’s trick delivered exactly that.

The TikToker said she came up with the idea after wanting something quick, cheap and easy that still packed a festive punch.

She explained: “It instantly makes your kitchen look like a wrapped Christmas present. Such an easy way to add holiday magic without spending a ton.”

Budget decorators have since raided Hobbycraft stores in search of the exact ribbon, which costs just £1 a roll, making it one of the cheapest Christmas glow-ups of the year.

With shoppers tightening their belts this season, Mallory’s hack has become the go-to solution for creating big festive impact on a tiny budget, proving that a magical makeover doesn’t need to cost a fortune.

And judging by the millions who can’t stop watching the transformation, ribbon-wrapped kitchens could be the surprise Christmas trend of 2025.

    DIY Christmas

She’s not the only mum getting creative with budget Christmas decor hacks this year.

Another savvy mum has shared how she made her own DIY Christmas wreath without breaking the bank.

DIY fan Katie McCutcheon explained how she made her own for a fraction of the cost – enabling her to save hundreds of pounds in the process.

Posting on social media, the bargain hunter mum talked through the step-by-step process of making your own wreath – and a hula hoop is key for starters.

She said: “I really wanted a giant wreath this year for my garage door – I wasn’t paying anywhere between £300 and £500 for one, so let me show you how I’ve done it for £50.”

Katie confirmed that she bought a 100cm hula hoop from B&M which cost her £5, nabbed pipe insulation from B&Q which was £10 each and spent another £10 on cable ties from Amazon.

The content creator confirmed that she was “buzzing” with her DIY wreath, as she explained: “So proud of myself, so happy with the result.”
