Matthew Prior Electrics LTD based in St Helens received the award in a ceremony earlier this month. The honour recognised for their positive reviews for their commercial and domestic electrical services.

Owner, Matthew Prior, 41, said: “It means the world, we’re just a small local business that I built it from nothing.”

The father-of-two started the business in 2017, after seeing the success of similar businesses in the area and offers domestic and commercial services across the North West as well as 24 hour call-out services.

The Prestige Awards recognise small and medium-sized businesses across the UK that “have proven to be the best in their market over the past 12 months”.

The judging panel base their decisions upon areas such as service excellence, quality of the service provided, value, ethical or sustainable methods of working, as well as consistency in performance.

The company was contacted by The Prestige Awards among 50 other businesses across the North-West, before being narrowed down to 30 business, with three making the final for the awards ceremony.

“We’re doing really well”, Matthew added.

“It was hard starting it up by myself, it’s just getting your name out there and if you do good work and you’re reputable, it comes back and people keep using your service.”

“I hope to expand the business in the future. I’d like to employ a few members of staff and grow the business, but to receive this award, I was a bit starstruck to even be nominated.”
