Trump has been number one in the world rankings since August 2024 and has been a prolific winner of tournaments in recent years, with a total of 30 ranking titles to his name.

However he has not lifted a trophy since last year’s UK Championship in York when he beat Barry Hawkins 10-8 in a dramatic final.

Since then he has changed his cue but so far this season he has yet to pick up silverware, through he did reach the final of the Northern Ireland Open where he was narrowly beaten by Jack Lisowski.

“My motivation is just to be the best in the world. It isn’t so much titles or anything else. Just the fact I don’t want to see anyone else as being the best player in the world. It is a good feeling to have,” said Bristol’s 36-year-old Trump.

“The fact is, I enjoy putting the work in every day. It is ingrained as part of me at the moment and I don’t struggle getting out of bed to practise. I am always quite motivated to improve. When I’m not winning events that makes me even more motivated. Seeing other players taking the plaudits gives me a kick up the backside.

“It is always important to realise where you have come from. You need to remember the work it has taken to get here and the sacrifices of family members and friends. I always feel very fortunate to be in the position I’m in. It takes hard work and dedication. No matter where I live in the world, I’ll always be someone who puts the work in.”

Trump believes he still had many years at the top, as John Higgins, Mark Williams and Ronnie O’Sullivan all turn 50 this year but they are all ranked inside the world’s top eight.

He said: “Everyone is probably looking at Mark, John and Ronnie to see how long they can go. Where is the line going to be drawn? I said before, that Ronnie will continue to be able to play until he is 60 in my opinion. He has ten more years in the top 16 if he wants it. He scores so heavily. Every time you win a tournament it gives you another two years of being in the top 16.

“Mark Williams has until at least 53 now. I can’t see them going away in the next ten years. In the past with Stephen Hendry, I don’t think his standard was good enough. It worked for him in the 90s, but the level is just too high for him. That is the reason he wasn’t able to compete beyond his mid 30s really.

“I’m going along nicely, I’m on five Triple Crown titles now. Since winning the World Championship in 2019, I’ve won the Masters twice, been in a couple of UK finals and the world final. It is ticking over well. If I keep going at this rate, then I should get to ten at least.”

WST is thrilled to announce that Victorian Plumbing, the UK’s leading bathroom retailer, will return as title partner of one of snooker’s greatest tournaments, the UK Championship.

With a history stretching back to 1977, the UK Championship is one of the highlights of the snooker calendar and it is part of the sport’s Triple Crown Series along with the World Championship and the Masters.

Televised across the globe by broadcasters including BBC, TNT Sports, Eurosport, CCTV5 and WST Play, the event sees 32 players battling for the famous trophy over nine days.

WST’s Chief Commercial Officer Peter Wright said: “Last year’s Victorian Plumbing UK Championship was such a fantastic event with so many great moments including a 147 from Zhang Anda and that incredible final won by Judd Trump.

“For the team at Victorian Plumbing this was their first experience of snooker and they were astounded by our sport’s capacity to captivate fans and create edge-of-your-seat drama. We look forward to working closely with them again on this highly-anticipated event which has a massive audience across the planet.”Victorian Plumbing

Chief Marketing Officer Joe Pascoe said: “We are delighted to renew our partnership with the UK Championship for 2025. One of the very highlights of the snooker season, the UK Championship represents the skill, elegance, and entertainment that a whole new generation of snooker fans has come to recognise.

“Last year’s Victorian Plumbing UK Championship was an incredible experience that capped a year of expansion and innovation for us as a business and in the ways we are reaching and connecting with our audience.

“We can’t wait to see what is in store for 2025.”
