Ex-handyman Richard Fox, 62, is being linked to the murders of several women with police suggesting they believe there are other victims of the prolific criminal offender
A handyman, who has pleaded guilty to murdering two women, has been charged with a third murder as police fear he could be a serial killer.
Richard Fox, 62, has been charged with second-degree murder over the death of Crystal Curthoys, 32, whose decomposed remains were located at a property he owned at Niagara Falls, in upstate New York. The ex-handyman is serving time behind bars for the killings of Cassandra Watson, 40, in 2003 and Marquita Mull, 50, in 2021.
Fox pleaded guilty to killing both women and dumping their remains in Chautauqua Rails to Trails, close to where he grew up. Chautauqua County Sheriff James Quattrone now suspects Fox could be a serial killer and is looking into the possibility he is linked to unsolved murders.

WIVB reported Sheriff Quattrone said: “I do believe that there [are] other victims. We’re hopeful that Richard Fox will hopefully try to ease his conscience a little bit and give us some more information.”
Prosecutors have argued Fox had been in a relationship with Watson around the year 2000 and that she was last seen in Buffalo, New York State. Mull also went missing in Buffalo and her remains were found close to Watson’s body.
Following Fox’s arrest last January, a search was carried out of his property where near-skeletal remains of a woman were found wrapped in tarp. The remains were identified as Curthoys following a dental examination.
It has since emerged Fox was also previously convicted of several child sex offences. He was sentenced in 1993 to 18 months to three years over the third-degree rape of a girl aged 14.
Fox was also convictd of first-degree attempted rape and aggravated sexual abuse of a 42-year-old woman in Buffalo. He was sentenced to 15 years. He is serving a 40 years to life sentence in September.
Judge Suzanne Maxwell branded Fox as “evil” in her remarks. “I can honestly say you should never see the light of day. Evil,” she commented. “‘That is the one word that sums up this case. Evil.”
Fox remains in Niagra County jail and is slated to return to court on January 5.
