    NEED TO KNOW

    • Sabrina Carpenter revealed she fell on a cactus while filming the “Manchild” music video

    • “I started crying,” she said of her fall on Late Night with Seth Meyers

    • “Manchild” is nominated for Best Music Video, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards

Sabrina Carpenter didn’t come out of her elaborate “Manchild” music video shoot unscathed.

During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the “Go Go Juice” singer was asked about her six nominations at the upcoming Grammy Awards. For the first time ever, she’s nominated for Best Music Video for “Manchild” — and she recalled a slight mishap that occurred while filming in the “great outdoors.”

“I fell on a cactus,” the “Juno” singer, 26, revealed to the host, 51. “It’s so easy to laugh when people get hurt. And I did. But then I started crying.”

“There was a medic. I just for the rest of the day was picking s— out of…,” she said, cutting herself off.

Otherwise, Carpenter is proud of how the music video — which took three days to shoot — came together.

“I’ll be honest, that shoot was so ambitious. We shot 37 outfits,” she said. “That was probably my biggest shoot I’ve ever done. I’m so grateful to be able to make that production of my dreams. But it was definitely… We endured a lot of pain to get the finished product.”

She added, “I really like that because I think — I make pop music and sometimes you don’t expect to see those visuals in a song like that. So that one means a lot to me. I’m very excited that everyone has liked the video.”

“Manchild,” the lead single from her most recent album Man’s Best Friend, is also nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.

In June, Carpenter explained the meaning behind her catchy song in a candid Instagram post.

“i wrote manchild on a random tuesday with amy and jack not too long after finishing short n’ sweet and it ended up being the best random tuesday of my life,” she wrote, alongside photos from the video shoot. “not only was it so fun to write, but this song became to me something I can look back on that will score the mental montage to the very confusing and fun young adult years of life.”

She continued, “it sounds like the song embodiment of a loving eye roll and it feels like a never ending road trip in the summer ! hence why i wanted to give it to you now- so you can stick your head out the car window and scream it all summer long! thank you always and forever for listening and thank you men for testing me!!🐷🤍”
