A small white house with a line of barrels in front of it and a dog in the foreground, with a body of water and forested hills in the background.

A RARE job for a couple on a stunning 100-acre Scots estate is up for grabs – with a £60,000 salary and an idyllic two-bed cottage thrown in.

As well as a two-bedroom private cottage and a £60,000 pay, council tax, electricity, heating and firewood are all covered too.

Applicants must love children and animals as the household includes two young kids, two dogs and a flock of chickens, according to the listing on Greycoat Lumleys.

The current couple have been employed for over 12 years and are retiring so the family are seeking a pair who can “take over the care and management” of the special property.

The day-to-day duties of the housekeeper include cleaning, dusting, bed-changing, laundry, ironing and hoovering.

Ideally, the successful candidate will enjoy cooking as the owners would occasionally like them to help with preparing meals when they have guests staying.

They will also be expected to babysit, take the children to activities and supervise them, do the school runs and cook for the kids.

Meanwhile, the handyman and gardener will be responsible for the maintenance of the buildings, gardens, walled garden, woodlands and grounds.

They will also be tasked with grass cutting, edging, path clearing, hedge cutting and tree pruning, weeding, tree management, driveway maintenance and more.

The handyman will also be required to clear gutters, carry out simple plumbing, DIY and property maintenance.

The job listing states: “Greycoat Lumleys are seeking a couple for a warm, informal family home with 100 acres based in beautiful rural East Fife is looking for a hands on, flexible, and proactive domestic couple to live in to join their household.

“The current couple have been employed for the last 12 years and are retiring, they have very much been part of the family. Therefore, an excellent opportunity for a new team to take over the care and management of this special property.”

It adds: “This is a special opportunity to join a thoughtful and well-supported household where your contribution will be genuinely appreciated. The right couple will enjoy the peace and beauty of East Fife while helping to maintain a home with care, skill, and quiet pride.”

The ideal pair will have previous experience as a domestic couple in a private household or estate.
