He continued, “It’s certainly not a cardinal sin, just unconventional. Much like many of her cooking habits – whether it’s leaning over the stove to stir pots on the back burners or the recent turkey blunder she posted on social media, there’s a constant flow of questionable methods.

“It seems those around her are aware of the correct methods but she deliberately chooses to do things differently. In my opinion, she shouldn’t have a platform to showcase this.”

For Jameson, the issue isn’t just the shortcut – it’s the risks that come with it. Explaining the science, he told us: “Microwaving chocolate can be a bit tricky. You have to place it in, set the power to low, heat it for 20 to 30 seconds, take it out, stir, and then repeat the process.”

The risk is that the chocolate can burn very quickly. For this reason, I always recommend using a bain-marie; it’s a foolproof technique,” he suggested.

While microwaving chocolate won’t ruin the flavour unless it’s burnt, he warned it can easily compromise the texture and appearance.

Jameson also raised concerns about the influence Meghan’s cooking habits might have on viewers. When asked whether audiences could pick up bad habits from seeing incorrect techniques demonstrated on screen, he didn’t mince his words: “Meghan Markle should be nowhere near a kitchen! Especially when presenting such absurdity to the audience. It’s more a spoof than a lifestyle show.”

For anyone watching at home who still wants an easier option than a bain-marie, but a safer one than Meghan’s microwave technique Jameson offered this advice.

The chef shared: “For those who frequently melt chocolate, small tempering machines are an affordable and user-friendly option. However, I always recommend the bain-marie method for its simplicity and ease.”

Whether the Duchess’s microwave moment becomes a new home-cook trend remains to be seen – but one thing is clear: Jameson Stocks won’t be tuning in for culinary inspiration anytime soon.
