West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is dealing with a large fire at a scrapyard on Knowsthorpe Road in Leeds.

Crews were called at around 12am to the blaze in Knowsthorpe Road.

Crews from across West Yorkshire are in attendance, with eight fire engines and one aerial ladder platform currently at the scene, supported by specialist aerial teams.

Firefighters are working to bring the outdoor blaze under control. A large plume of smoke is affecting the surrounding area, and all residents have been advised to keep doors and windows closed.

People are also being urged to avoid the area while emergency crews continue their work. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
