Acquisition complements Intertek’s leading TQA business in North America

DALTON, Ga., November 26, 2025–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Intertek Group plc (“Intertek” and “Group”), a leading Total Quality Assurance (TQA) provider to industries worldwide, has expanded its service offering in North America through the acquisition of Professional Testing Laboratory, LLC (“PTL”), a leading provider of high-quality testing services for the flooring industry.

Strategically based in Dalton, Georgia, one of the largest flooring manufacturing hubs in the world, PTL provides high-quality testing services, covering everything from chemical analysis to equipment calibration and consulting solutions. PTL employs 26 technical experts and generated revenues of £4.3m in 2024, making it a strategic acquisition in an attractive, high-growth, high-margin market with a high-quality earnings model.

Globally, rapidly evolving consumer trends and increasingly rigorous regulatory demands are accelerating the need for industry-leading Quality Assurance solutions in the flooring industry. As the market leader in high-quality testing services for the US flooring market, PTL is well positioned to capitalise on these structural growth drivers.

The acquisition is highly complementary to Intertek’s leading TQA business and wider range of product-related testing and certification capabilities in North America. It will create a strong regional hub in the Southeast United States, the home of manufacturing for carpet, flooring and advanced materials in the Americas, positioning Intertek to serve these industries more directly while expanding its reach into adjacent markets across North America.

Additionally, the acquisition will unlock strong commercial synergy opportunities, such as expanding PTL’s services to Intertek’s existing clients, including major retailers, while also capitalising on the Group’s existing capabilities in the USA to provide new services to PTL’s local customer base.

For customers in North America, this means faster access to world-class testing and certification, broader service offerings under one roof, and enhanced support for innovation, compliance and sustainability goals. By combining PTL’s local expertise with Intertek’s global network, clients will benefit from deeper industry knowledge, quicker turnaround times and a partner committed to helping them compete and grow in both domestic and international markets.

In a global flooring market valued at $376bn and forecast to grow at 6.8% per annum to 20301, the acquisition also provides an opportunity to expand PTL’s expertise internationally, broadening beyond the US by leveraging Intertek’s scale and global footprint in other key flooring markets around the world.

Carlos Velasco, President Latin America and Global Building & Construction, said: “North America has long been a strategic market for our TQA business, including our Building & Construction business. The acquisition of PTL strengthens our end-to-end range of testing and certification services for building materials, providing our customers in the region with an even wider range of industry-leading TQA solutions and deep science-based expertise to help them meet evolving standards and seize new opportunities with confidence.”
