Whites Roofing Ltd is seeking permission to replace its existing warehouse, which is no longer structurally sound, at its site in Risbury, Leominster.
The proposal includes constructing a modern steel-framed warehouse spanning 463 square metres, along with demolishing another building on the site.
The new facility promises to be more efficient, secure, and tailored to the company’s growing needs.
The development would reduce the overall building mass by 20 per cent, with some areas being returned to grass.
The site covers 0.4 hectares and includes residential dwellings and other industrial, office, and warehouse buildings used by the company.
The proposal also outlines the construction of a new accessway to improve highway safety and visibility.
This will involve adjustments to hedges and fences to maximise sightlines.
The project is aligned with local and national policies, including the Herefordshire Local Plan Core Strategy and the National Planning Policy Framework.
Policies support sustainable development, rural business expansion, environmental quality, biodiversity, and improved transportation infrastructure.
Whites Roofing Ltd, which has been operating from this site since before 2009, employs 15 full-time staff and 16 to 17 subcontractors.
The planning statement, prepared by Mike Harries Consultancy & Estates LLP on behalf of Olive White, Mervyn White, and Whites Roofing Ltd, highlights the benefits of the proposal.
It states: “The proposal supports the sustainable development and expansion of a successful rural business while adhering to local and national policies.”
Public comments on the application can be made until December 4, 2025.
