    THE Met Office has issued a fresh set of weather warnings as Storm Goretti is set to bring 12 inches of snow to the UK.

    A total of 114 locations are currently under a combination of snow, ice, wind, and rain warnings, with 33 issued amber status.

    The first storm of 2026, Storm Goretti officially reached the UK on Wednesday night, bringing significant travel disruption.

    A total of 114 local authorities across the UK have been issued weather alerts for Thursday, with the latest including including an amber wind warning for 80 to 90mph winds in Cornwall.

    This warning includes mentions “danger to life” from large waves and debris in the area.

    The warning will be in place in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly from 4pm to 11pm on Thursday.

    Meanwhile, another amber warning is set to bring 10 to 15cm of snow, with the potential for 20 to 30cm in some locations, mainly on hilly areas, especially in Wales and the Peak District.

    And eight yellow weather warnings for snow, rain, wind, and ice have been issued for other parts of the UK on Thursday.

    Areas covered span Scotland, Wales, as well as large parts of England, while ice warnings in the North of Ireland were lifted earlier today.

    A yellow wind warning remains in place across the South West and South East of England and Wales into Friday.

    A mixture of rain, snow, and strong winds are expected in these areas.

    Three yellow weather warnings for snow will be in place in the Midlands and North of England, and most of Wales.

    Another yellow warning covers patches of the South East overnight from 8pm until 9am.

    Some weather warnings are expected to continue into Friday.
