A new scheme has launched to provide more free public toilets across Adur and Worthing.
The ‘community toilet scheme’ from Adur and Worthing Councils will see local businesses and partners open their facilities to the public, at no charge.
Buildings already signed up include The Shoreham Centre, Shoreham Library, Lancing Parish Hall, Eastbrook Manor Community Centre, Worthing Town Hall, Worthing Library and Brooklands Cafe.

Each of these has accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities, with The Shoreham Centre, Worthing Library and Brooklands Cafe also offering Changing Places facilities.
This means they have larger, accessible toilets with specialist equipment for those with mobility issues.
The scheme is set to make it easier for people to find clean, well-maintained toilets without needing to make a purchase.
In return, the councils will contribute around £20 per week to help clean premises that are not council-owned or operated, this will be based on the level of facilities available to the public.

Participating premises will display a membership sticker in their windows and must provide adequate hand washing and drying provision, as well as bins.
Councillor Andy Harvey, Adur’s cabinet member for the environment and leisure, said: “It’s great that businesses, organisations and buildings can now officially offer their toilet facilities to the public, while also receiving a financial reward for their contribution.
“Our teams do their best to make our public facilities clean and readily available, but sadly some are occasionally closed at short notice due to vandalism, general maintenance, or unforeseen staffing issues.”

There are already numerous council-owned public facilities across Adur and Worthing, but the council hopes the scheme will provide more options for the public, especially in town and village centres.
Councillor Vicki Wells, Worthing’s cabinet member for environmental services, said: “We’ve learned from other councils that operate community toilet schemes and I hope that its introduction in Adur and Worthing will prove as successful for residents and visitors.
“I’d like to thank Worthing Library and the Brooklands Cafe team for pioneering it in our town and encourage other businesses and buildings to find out more.”
