A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “We have issued a Section 35 Dispersal Order for Sussex after reports of 200 vehicles meeting in Worthing and being driven in a dangerous and anti-social manner on Friday night (January 9).
“The vehicles gathered in Southdown View Way at about 9.15pm and then proceeded to move off to the Old Shoreham Road area of Hove, before travelling onto the Peacehaven area.
“The dispersal order gives our officers temporary powers to prevent the vehicles from gathering on any road in the county and requires them to leave the area and not return to the location while the order runs.
“If they breach the order, they could be arrested.”
The order will be in place from 10.15pm on Friday, January 9 until 10.14am on Sunday, January 11.
Inspector Jim Bowen said: “We have implemented the order to prevent the public from being harassed and distressed and to prevent crime and disorder.
“We take all reports of anti-social behaviour seriously and understand the impact it has on the community.
“There will be an increased police presence in the area to help keep people safe and respond to concerns raised.”
