Colin Revell discovered a love for art 30 years ago and currently spends his spare time painting scenes from around the city.

The 55-year-old’s work has featured at Art Fair East and the Royal Norfolk Show, and last year, he appeared on Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year.

The watercolour enthusiast from Norwich has now been nominated for the British Art Prize 2025, landing a spot in the final 50 out of nearly 3,000 people who entered across the country.

“I never enter competitions, but I wanted to focus on it this year,” he said. “I am over the moon, it’s not really sunk in yet.”

Mr Revell submitted five paintings, three from New York, one from Milan and another from his favourite place to paint – Norwich.

“I paint the city because there are some fantastic buildings,” he explained. “I love it.

“I look at the world through an artist’s eyes; everything looks like a painting.

“Art is something that is in me, it makes me feel good”.

The British Art Prize, organised by Artists & Illustrators Magazine, is open to all artists, including amateur, emerging and professional artists.

The winner will be selected by a public vote, which opened on October 24, and will receive a £2,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition at Panter and Hall’s Cecil Court Gallery.

After the vote closes, the winner will be revealed on November 21.
