St John’s Primary School in St John’s Road, Wallingford, is closed today due a fault with the electrical supply. The emergency school closure was first listed on the Oxfordshire County Council website on Tuesday, December 2, and was due to last until tomorrow, Thursday, December 4. However, it has been extended until Friday, when the school is expected to reopen. Police were called to Sompting Avenue at around 7.45pm on December 1 following reports of an assault. A woman was taken to hospital for treatment and has since been discharged. A 56-year-old man from Worthing was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, and failure to surrender firearm ammunition on revocation of a certificate. He has been released on bail while police continue their investigation. During a search of a property in connection with the investigation on Tuesday, December 2, officers seized multiple items.
