Lidl is set to open its 1,000th UK store next Thursday in East Grinstead, West Sussex. The discounter is marking the occasion – which comes 31 years after it opened its first UK supermarket in 1994 – by giving away 1,000 ‘gingerbread store kits’ online. The kits can be built into a model of its 1,000th store, made entirely from gingerbread, according to Lidl. Ten of the kits will also contain £100 Lidl Plus vouchers.
