Flooring Superstore, which launched in 2012 only online, now has 40 stores nationwide.

The Bishop Auckland store is their fourth superstore site in the North East. The site opened in late January after £200,000 of investment and created three local jobs.

It is based out of a 3,600 square foot unit in Bishop Auckland’s Abraham Retail Park, previously occupied by a Bathroom World store. The retail park opened last summer and boasts brands like Popeyes, Home Bargains and Pure Gym.

Greig Anderson, from Flooring Superstore, said: “We are delighted to have been able to open a new store on our own doorstep and in such a thriving retail area.

“As a North-East based company, it’s always nice to come home and we are looking forward to welcoming people to the new store.

“It was all about waiting for the right opportunity and our patience has been rewarded with this unit which is in a fantastic location with lots of footfall.”

Headquartered in County Durham, Flooring Superstore has outlets across the country, in Glasgow, Plymouth, Swansea, and Norwich. In the North East they have stores in Middlesbrough, Birtley, and Newcastle. Their new store is less than a mile away from their Bishop Auckland head office.

Bosses say stores offer an “unrivalled” service including using augmented reality (AR) technology, which lets customers see how a floor would look in their own home.

“We offer a unique experience when it comes to buying flooring, Greig added.

“We look to provide customers with a complete expert guide through the complicated flooring journey, including the use of AR to help them visualise what flooring may look like in their own homes before they make a purchase.”

The store will offer a range of flooring services, including carpets, vinyl, laminate, real wood, luxury vinyl tiles, and ceramic tiles. Also available will be Flooring Superstore’s range of artificial grass.

They have also said that plans for further openings “in the pipeline” for 2025.
