    • “Such a Funny Way” is a bonus track on Man’s Best Friend, which she originally unveiled in September

    • On Instagram, she called the song a “cathartic christmas crashout song”

This year, Sabrina Carpenter is giving her fans the gift of music.

On Wednesday, Dec. 24, Carpenter released “Such a Funny Way,” a bonus track on Man’s Best Friend, on streaming services and she told her followers on Instagram that it was a “thank you for such a beautiful year.”

In the caption, the singer-songwriter, 26, also said the song was for anyone in need of a “cathartic christmas crashout song.”

The “Taste” singer added, “i love you guys so much.  Thank you for caring for these songs the way i do and for such a special 2025!! I feel lucky to know there’s still so much good to come x”

In addition to the bonus track, Carpenter also released a vintage-style lyric video, where she’s dressed in old Hollywood glam and surrounded by men.

Carpenter dropped Man’s Best Friend on Aug. 29 and it debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. On Sept. 4, she announced she was dropping “Such a Funny Way” through digital download.

“a little surprise for you,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “‘Such a Funny Way’ is a song i am so proud of. the sentiment is one i always thought could really be the end of Mans Best Friend in another universe! i didn’t want you to wait too long to have it and get to know it. it’s available for digital download now 🐾 🖤”

In a September interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Carpenter opened up about how a “newer heartbreak experience” inspired her seventh studio album.

“I think I came out of a sad situation, a lot less bitter than I intended or expected to,” the “House Tour” singer said at the time. “With a little bit more of the like, you know what? There’s two people involved, and this is part of growing up.”

She also said the music “feels very reflective of this time in my life where you don’t really have a lot of time to sort of mope and weep.”

“You kind of just got to get back out there, and not even in a dating way, not even in a romantic way, but just get back out there in terms of if you’re staying inside and you’re thinking about how everything’s going wrong, everything’s going to go wrong and you’re going to be inside,” Carpenter said, adding that it was about shifting her “mindset” to recognize that she’s not “damaged” even if she’s been “hurt.”
