BBC viewers saw host Matt Tebutt cook for the likes of Maisie Adam and Alex Horne on the latest episode of Saturday Kitchen
One guest on Saturday Kitchen appeared distinctly unimpressed with the dish Matt Tebbutt had selected to prepare for them.
During the latest episode of the BBC programme, which recently saw the presenter respond to viewer complaints following one particular incident, Matt was crafting a dish for Taskmaster stars Maisie Adam and Alex Horne.
He explained to viewers that the meal would showcase vegetables as the main attraction rather than relegating them to supporting roles.
As he transferred his blended spinach into a food processor, it was evident that Maisie wasn’t particularly enthusiastic as she quipped: “Was Popeye meant to be on? That’s a lot! Do we have to eat this?”
Matt brushed off the comment with a chuckle as he pressed on with preparing the meal, adding ricotta into the processor before grating some cheese into the mixture, which earned the guest’s approval, reports the Express.
After combining everything together, she observed: “This is looking, frankly, minging. But, I trust you, I trust you.”
The BBC presenter then placed the mixture into the oven to bake as he progressed to the following stages, though it appeared Maisie remained unclear about what dish Matt was actually creating.
She enquired: “Did you put the spinach gunk into the oven? Will it be solid?” He responded: “It sets, this is the base of it. So, this is like a spinach and ricotta kind of cake. Then the mushrooms go on top.”
Alex informed the host that he wouldn’t classify that as a cake, whilst Maisie appeared baffled by what he was producing.
She retorted: “A cake?! Spinach and ricotta cake with mushrooms on top? Do you know how long I’ve waited to come on this show, and that’s what you’re giving me?”

“Spinach cake? Are you serious? No, that is rubbish, spinach and ricotta cake. That’s a punishment.”
Despite Matt’s encouragement to give it a try, she agreed to taste it once it was ready, prompting him to say: “Let’s just persevere.”
When the moment of truth arrived, Maise was taken aback by the unexpected delight of the dish, exclaiming: “Oh my god, it’s lovely! How have you done that?
“How have you made something look minging but it tastes delicious? That’s genuinely great.”
Inquiring about their overall impression of the meal, Maise warned viewers they might need after-dinner mints due to its strong aroma.
Saturday Kitchen can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
