A Sky News broadcaster blasted Meghan Markle after it was revealed that the Duchess of Sussex finally made contact with her father, Thomas Markle. Over the past week, the mother-of-two has been slammed for her approach to contacting her ailing father after he had his leg amputated in hospital. During his horrific ordeal, Markle reached out to his estranged daughter through the press, revealing that he didn’t want to die before reuniting with her again.

He also expressed an interest in meeting his two grandchildren for the first time alongside his son-in-law, Prince Harry. Meghan has been estranged from her father in the run-up to her 2018 wedding, when he was caught staging paparazzi photos.

On Thursday (December 11), broadcaster Dee Dee Dunleavy branded the reports on Meghan “poppycock” after struggling to contact her father following his lie-changing surgery.

She fumed: “This is just crazy… that this woman who holds herself up and is happy to be lorded as a founder and a great, successful, intelligent woman, cannot get a message to her father.

“I feel really sorry for him. He’s desperate to see her, and she’s fumbling over ways to get in touch with him. I don’t believe anything this woman says.”

It comes after TalkTV host Mark Dolan took aim at the Duchess after a statement released by a Sussex spokesman criticised a Daily Mail journalist, who Thomas has been a father-figure to for seven years, for being at his bedside.

Speaking exclusively on the Daily Expresso news show, he fumed: “This is an 81-year-old man. He’s lonely; he’s in a foreign country thousands of miles away. He’s got his son, Thomas Markle Jr, but he’s got major issues, too.

“He’s got health problems, he’s broke, and he’s not been able to be at the hospital 24/7, so Caroline has filled the gap. And what is her reward? A subtle attack from the ruthless Sussex public relations machine, throwing shade at the Mail on Sunday for running this story. And therefore, that is by definition an attack on Caroline Graham, who is really a dear friend of Thomas Markle.”

He added: “When you’re dying, and your last hope is to meet your daughter, and you get some correspondence, I think that’s a real slap in the face. Given that Meghan knew Thomas Markle was fighting for his life, if that’s not a wakeup call, and you can’t jump on a plane or call him, then nothing will change.

“Meghan would have to have an entire personality transplant. She has to develop some empathy, of which she has shown precious little.”
