Brighton-based children’s clothing business Toby Tiger, which has a wholesale site in Lancing, has been named on the list of 100 UK businesses as part of the ‘Small Biz 100’ campaign.
Chintz & Wood, based in Worthing, and Co-Women in Hurstpierpoint have also been listed.
Co-Women is a membership group focusing on supporting and empowering women in business through events, networking, and resources.
Chintz & Wood is a home and lifestyle store and deals in handmade items like naturally-dyed cushions, locally-made soaps, and vintage textiles.
The annual list shines the spotlight on businesses that positively impact communities and the economy, revealing one each day in the run up to the event.
Representatives from Chintz and Wood and Toby Tiger visited Parliament on December 2 to meet local MPs Tom Rutland and Dr Beccy Cooper.
Mr Rutland, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, said on social media: “It was wonderful to meet Adur and Worthing business owners, Wendy and Jubal from Chintz & Wood, and Zoe from Toby Tiger Organic Kids Clothes in Parliament today.
“It’s fantastic that they have been selected by Small Business Saturday as two of 100 small businesses to highlight in the UK.”
Small Business Saturday, now in its thirteenth year, is supported by American Express.
The campaign is a bid to raise awareness about the UK’s 5.45 million small businesses and encourage people to support them.
From retail to service providers, the movement shines a light on small businesses’ significant contributions and aims to facilitate their growth.
