This strategy outlines how groups will support those caring for family and friends across the county and is currently being updated.

In the update, they are interested in how well carers think their identified priorities meet their current needs.

These priorities include more recognition and support for carers, a better understanding of out-of-hours and backup support options, and assistance at each stage to help prevent carer breakdown.

There is also a focus on correctly identifying and supporting carers from vulnerable communities, and on limiting financial hardship linked to caring.

To register an interest in strategy development or to learn more, get in touch at carercommissioning@westsussex.gov.uk or call 03302 226 111.

Councillor Amanda Jupp, cabinet member for adults’ services, said: “Carers carry out a vital role supporting their family members, friends and neighbours.

“We would like to hear directly from all carers and anyone who works with them as to whether these are the right priorities and what would make the biggest difference in day-to-day life.

“By sharing your views as we refresh this strategy, you will not only be helping shape the direction of our services, but also ensuring that we support carers in the best way possible.”

Everyone in West Sussex is invited to participate.
