Jules Rankin-Perez joins OnPath Energy as head of construction

Renewable energy developer OnPath Energy is building for the future with the appointment of a new head of construction.

Jules Rankin-Perez brings almost 17 years’ renewable energy experience to her new role and has previously worked on a wide range of high profile green energy projects, including two of OnPath Energy’s Scottish onshore wind farms.

Based at OnPath’s new Bellshill office, she is now responsible for managing the construction performance, supported by wider teams to ensure the safety and financial aspects, of OnPath’s project pipeline in construction across various locations in the UK.

Born in South Africa to British parents, Jules came to the UK in 1999 for a gap year before deciding to stay and taking a product design engineering degree at Edinburgh Napier University.

Having won a scholarship from global health giant Johnson & Johnson during her degree, she joined the firm on graduation and spent six years there before deciding on a change of career direction.

After taking a master’s degree in energy engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Jules joined international wind turbine manufacturer Senvion and worked her way up to being a construction team leader through more than a decade with the firm.

She moved to Green Cat Renewables, working as a consultant on a variety of onshore wind, hydro, hydrogen, gas peaker and combined heat & power renewable energy projects, before focusing on green hydrogen development with sector specialist Protium.

Jules Rankin-Perez said: “Having previously worked with members of the team, I knew that OnPath’s culture, ethos and ways of working fit well with my own.

“It’s refreshing to be part of a business that has such a strong, clear focus on its future direction, and with a lot of new projects about to come forward, it’s an exciting time to be joining.”

OnPath Energy currently has 12 operational onshore wind farms across Scotland and England, with construction currently ongoing at three further green energy generation sites and several new projects across the UK set to come forward within the next 12 months.

Martin Kellerman, construction director at OnPath Energy, added: “Jules’ personal and professional qualities were well known to us, with her breadth of green energy industry experience being exactly what we required for this role, and we’re very pleased to be able to bring her into our growing team.”
