He was also linked to another break-in
Police have said a burglary suspect was found eating a sandwich during an alleged break-in in Nottingham.
Nottinghamshire Police attended a flat in Gregory Boulevard, Radford, at around 5.35pm on Sunday, November 23, after being told a break-in was in progress.
Police were able to get to the address in time to detain a suspect in what the force described as “unusual circumstances”.
Having been invited inside by the occupants, Nottinghamshire Police said officers found a man sat down in the flat’s kitchen tucking in to a sandwich.
The force said a search of his coat pockets led to the discovery of multiple valuables, including pieces of gold jewellery reported missing from the flat.
Other watches, rings and pieces of jewellery were also recovered by officers.
Nottinghamshire Police said it was later realised that the 33-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of the Gregory Boulevard break-in, was wanted as a suspect in another.
That one reportedly happened on the morning of November 13, with belongings taken from within a property in Norton Street, Radford.
The man was additionally arrested on suspicion of a second burglary.
Sergeant James King, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Within two minutes of the call coming in, police were inside the flat and had detained a suspect, who was sat down in the kitchen eating a sandwich.
“Having arrested the suspected trespasser for that offence, the officers then realised he had potential links to a separate break-in from around a week earlier too.”
